About Aimforon Tablets
Aimforon belongs to a class of medications called ‘haematinics’ primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Its deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food or increased demand of folate in the body (in pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.
Aimforon is a combination drug containing Iron and Folic acid (haematinics combination) primarily used to treat anaemia. Aimforon works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBC) in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBC are produced in the body, so that body’s each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen.
Take Aimforon as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Aimforon for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition. You may experience constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite, bloating, diarrhoea in some cases. Most of these side effects of Aimforon do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Do not take Aimforon if you are allergic to iron, folic acid or any of the ingredients of Aimforon. Do not start taking any new medication without telling your doctor. Aimforon is generally given from forth month of pregnancy and is continued up to 3 months after delivery during lactation. If you have got any part of the stomach removed, please inform your doctor before taking Aimforon. When given to a child under 12 years of age should be given under strict medical supervision.

Directions for Use
Take the Tablets of Aimforon with or without food or as directed by your physician. Swallow the whole Tablets with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Aimforon should be taken in dose as directed by your physician. The dose of Aimforon should be taken as prescribed as an overdose can lead to unpleasant side effects and harm the baby.

Drug Warnings
Do not take Aimforon if you are allergic to iron, folic acid, or any of the ingredients of Aimforon. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor Aimforon is generally given from forth month of pregnancy and is continued up to 3 months after delivery during lactation. Also, if giving Aimforon to a child, a child specialist’s dose will be decided as an overdose of Aimforon in children can lead to deadly poisoning. If you have got any part of the stomach removed, please inform your doctor before taking Aimforon.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: Aimforon is known to interact with medicines used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (penicillamine, sulfasalazine), blood cholesterol (cholestyramine), Parkinson’s disease (levodopa, carbidopa), thyroid disease (thyroxine), bone disease (bisphosphonates), certain cancers (aminopterin, methotrexate), malaria (pyrimethamine), Wilson’s disease (trientine), antibiotics (cotrimoxazole, chloramphenicol, tetracyclines). As contained folic acid it is not used for cervical cancer patients.
Drug-Food Interaction: Aimforon should not be taken along with alcohol, dairy products, and eggs as it might affect Aimforon absorption in the body.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Aimforon is known to interact if you have or ever had a stomach ulcer, vitamin B12 deficiency, any blood disorder, repeated blood transfusions, ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), anaemia, folate dependent tumour.
Safety Advice

You are recommended not to consume alcohol along with Aimforon to avoid unpleasant side-effects.
PREGNANCY
Aimforon is safe if prescribed by a doctor but always take it in the dose and duration prescribed by a doctor. Aimforon is generally given from forth month of pregnancy and is continued up to 3 months after delivery during lactation.
BREAST FEEDING
Aimforon is consider safe during breastfeeding.
DRIVING
Aimforon is safe if you drive or operate any machinery which requires concentration as it is not known to affect to cognitive ability.
LIVER
Aimforon to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver disease. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
KIDNEY
Consume only if prescribed by your doctor.
